Custom Fitting Golf Clubs

Every golfer's capability and swing is different. So too, should the fitting of the golf clubs to that player.

Many of the best golf clubs today can be custom fit for:

  • lie approach
  • pipe lettering and strip
  • grip lettering and mass.

Custom fitting golf clubs involves some quantifying questions regarding your swing performanc and some measured self-assessment. This includes such measures as:

  • height in your stockings or socks
  • height of wrist to floor
  • gender - uses different definitions of "customary strip" for men and women.
  • age
  • your handicap or ability
  • swing speed - how rapid you swing a golf club
  • what club you use at the 150 yard point.

The height of the golfer and the height of the wrist from the floor are used together to calculate the 'peak for club strip'. This can be adjusted up to 3 -shuffle ranging from ladies to men advantage 1 -shuffle. A tall golfer with long arms will need abrupter clubs than an standard height self with abrupt arms. About 80 percent of golfers are customary strip.

Your age, handicap self-assessed ability height, estimated golf swing velocity and club you use at the 150 yard indicateer are all jointly used to influence the custom golf club's pipe loosen.

Custom fitting can fix your slice. If you slice the sphere it means that the toe of the club is chief into the sphere which opens the face of the club. That may be down to a swing omission, but it could be because the club is not correctly fitted.

Making the custom golf club more upright will help resolve the slice. The toe of the club will be slightly off the ground at address to compensate.

There are different modes of fitting according to custom golf club manufacturers but they all tend to follow a similar method.

After a preliminary fitting based on measurements, you will then hit 50-100 balls on the range. This will indicate whether the heel or the toe of the custom golf club is approaching the ground first. An aversion to one or the other will indicate that the club face should to be flatter or more upright.

Advanced fitting may be done using testing apparatus to quantify your club velocity and the face spin of the ball. You can also measure the the launch approach of the ball, how much backspin you create and directional effiiciency.

Custom fitting is NOT only for good golfers. All golfers should have their clubs custom fitted as much as the model permits.

Custom fitting will not correct bad golf technique, but it will account for physical variations between golfers; accepting that golf clubs are mass manufactured based on average physical specifications.
