Resistance Bands

Resistance bands are very strong bands of rubber used as resistance exercise equipment. They are ideal for fitness workouts when travelling and are under-estimated by many as to their effectiveness.

Resistance bands [also called dyna bands] are used widely by sports physiotherapists to build up strength in target muscles and for recovery therapy in sports injuries.

Resistance Band Levels

Spri makes very user friendly exercise equipment. Their resistance bands are color coded to identify their resistance level. To identify the reistance level of other brands, check the thickness and the ease of stretch to determine resistance.

For both brands the lighter the resistance the thinner the band will be.

Spri Resistance Bands

Spri resistance bands are color coded. Different Colors of bands correspond to different resistance levels.

  • Yellow Bands - are for beginners; providing 3 pound resistance
  • Green Bands - are light resistance for the beginner/moderately fit person; providing about 6 pound resistance
  • Red Bands - are medium resistance for moderately fit/fit persons; providing about 10 pound resistance.
  • Blue Bands are heavy resistance designed for the very fit person person; providing about 15 pound resistance.
  • Purple Bands - are ultra heavy resitance designed for the extremely fit person; providing about 20 pound resistance.

Reebok Resistance Bands

Reebok bands come in three levels. The bands are not color coded, so you need to identify the resistance by using the thickness of the bands.

You can also adjust the level of the tube by shortening the band. This increases the force required to move it through a set distance. You can shorten the effective length of the band by adjusting where you stand on it -or wrapping the ends around the handles or your wrists.

Most Popular Resistant Bands

  • Spri
  • Reebok
