Recumbent Exercise Bikes


Recumbant Exercise Bikes are not the best cardio workout – but are ideal for many people who have hip or back problems that make using an upright stationary exercise bike or elliptical trainer uncomfortable.

A recumbent exercise bike still gives the legs a great workout, and does have some cardio impact due to the leg muscles being large muscles requiring a lot of oxygen to really keep them working hard for 30 minutes.

The best thing about the Precor Recumbant Exercise Bike is that it is compact and comfortable.

  • Seat Design – the design of the seat is very well done, meaning it is the right shape and soft enough to stay comfy right throughout the workout.
  • Adjustments – moving the distance of the seat away from the pedals changes the emphasis point on the muscles. I find being closer works the upper thigh more, and being further away I can fell my lower legs working harder, with less stress on my knees [my weak point] are great so you can sit as far away or as close as you need to. It has a lot of programs so you can gear your workout to what you feel like doing on a particular day.
  • Intensity – the intensity of the workout is adjusted using the resistance control.
  • Data Read Outs – the console provides basic data readouts: time, distance, speed, and calories burnt.

You will be surprised to see that you still burn a reasonable amount of calories for lesser perceived exertion. Remember – those big leg muscles burn fuel like crazy.

For those who love that cardio burn feeling – stick with the Upright Bike or Elliptical Trainer. But for those who have medical conditions or find they prefer a more comfortable way to exercise – a Precor Recumbent Kike is just the thing.
