Polar Heart Rate Monitors


The Polar A-series is designed for the beginning to intermediate exerciser and is easy to use for everyday workouts.

Polar A3 heart-rate monitor (*est. $75) - is an easy to use, highly accurate heart rate monitor with an array of features. The A3 also stores previous workout data for later review. Other key features that make the Polar A3 so popular are:

  • Bold easy to read display
  • Easy to set up and to use
  • Provides all the essential information
  • Costs less than most heart-rate monitors.

Polar A5 Heart Rate Monitor

The Polar A5 (*est. $90) is a reliable, good basic monitor provides a few more features including:

  • Selfwalk test - tells you how fit you are and the data can be used to help set up your exercise program.
  • BodyMass Index
  • OwnCal - calorie calculation
  • Backlight - makes it easier to read

More Advanced Polar Heart Rate Monitors

Advanced heart rate monitors generally have more analaysis data reading capability, can store more data, can transfer that data to a computer, and come with analysis software. Different models have different combinations of the above.

Polar S- series Heart Rate Monitors

Has all the basic heart rate monitor features, and you can download some data to a computer. Note - this model does not have the same analysis software as the S410.

Polar S410 (*est. $210) -
Has all the basics: average heart rate, time in target zone, etc and it has some key advanced features:

  • Memory - can store five key workouts.
  • PC Interface - data can be transmitted to a computer for training and analysis program monitoring.
  • Advanced Read Outs - percentage of maximum heart rate, stopwatch, and countdown timer.

Polar S810i (*est. $340)
Is even more advanced in its heart-rate monitor features:

  • Larger Memory - hold 59 files
  • Multple Countdown Timers - three

Polar F11 (*est. $150) - t
T he latest in the Polar advanced heart-rate monitor range has similar features to the S series, but aslo features:

  • Keeps U Fit Workout Program - fitness program which can be tailored to your personal goals.
  • Coded transmitter - eliminates interference from other nearby heart rate monitors.
