The E82 is priced around $3300.
Best Recommendation
The SportsArt E82 elliptical trainer has a high quality feel and
finish, variable stride length capability, superior visibility console,
and more innovative features than most other elliptical trainers.
It's feel and finish equals or exceeds the best in this category.
Best Features
- Console - best console out of all elliptical trainers - see
below
- Very smooth operation
- Arm mounted switches - left for resistance and right for stride
length. Very convenient for in motion changes.
Worst Features
Large machine - measure up to make sure you have enough space before
purchase. Not as big as the E8300 though.
Features
- Electronic Adjustable Stride Length - can be
adjusted electronically between 17" and 26" using a
switch conveniently positioned on the right exercise arm. Current
stride length is displayed on the console; adjustments are in
one inch increments.
- Moving Arms - work more than the arms, they
also work the lateral abs. The unit also has two stationary arms.
- Resistance Variation - use a switch on the
left arm to increase/decrease resistance.
- Heart Rate Control and Display - two heart
rate control modes: weight loss (65%) and cardio (80%). Both target
heart rates are constantly displayed at the top of the console
along with your actually heart rate.
- Chest Sensors - supports Polar compatible heart
rate chest sensors and also has built-in heart rate sensors in
the stationary arms. The target heart rates are calculated based
on your age, but can be changed in your custom user settings.
- Resistance Control - press the resistance button
to modify the routine on the fly.
- Drive System - uses an electric powered drive
and resistance control to give a virtually silent operation. Resistance
is perfectly smooth. Powered units have the advantage of maintaining
your session information if you take a break.
-
Console - superior console
with 3-color data presentation and two tier console setup. The
best of any elliptical trainer. This is due to both the display
and the positioning. The display uses three bright color [red,
green, orange] LED's. The elliptical trainer is designed to position
the console higher and closer to eye level; making it really easy
to see and read while working out. The aesthetics of the console
adds to its high quality feel.
- Display Layout - well organised, with a two
tier layout. Control buttons are located on a small pod on the
bottom and data displayed on the top of the console.
- Data - provides Time, Resistance, Stride Length,
Strides, Calories, Calories / Hour, etc. in easy to read three
color graphics.
- Users and Exercise Routines - nine buttons
give direct access to the exercise routines. Plus there is Quickstart
to go directly to Manual mode. Each program is displayed on screen
using a red LED. The exercise routines on both models are comparable.
- Program Display LED - all programs are displayed,
with the current program used indicated by red LED. This lets
you easily switch between exercise routines and keep track of
what mode you are in. Quick routine changes are really useful
if you like to customise your programs.
- User Memory - The E82 retains up to four sets
of user data [age, weight] and cumulative exercise data [time,
strides] based on a User ID. Great feature for multi user elliptical
trainers.

User Experiences
"Once you try variable stride length … you may never
be happy with a fixed stride length trainer ever again. It allows
you tremendous flexibility in tuning your workout and your comfort
level. Plus, each family member can just dial in the right setup
for their workout".
"The stride motion produces a very natural walking, jogging,
or running stride based on stride length. The angle of the footpads
changes through the range of motion".
