3. The Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN) program takes four years and requires a more complex curriculum which includes arts and sciences, nursing management and leadership training in different settings.
4. A BSN nurse might then complete her study and get a Master of Science in nursing (MSN) diploma. That way she would be able to specialize as a nurse practitioner or nurse anesthetist.
5. The highest level of nursing programs available is a doctorate level, as a PhD in nursing. In any nursing program you need serious academic preparation and lots of clinical training in order to do your required course work which will give the graduates the opportunity to take the licensure exam.

In case you are considering becoming a nurse in a short period of time it is best if you take a practical nursing program for LPN licensure as a beginning. Then you might progress to a RN, after that to BSN and/or MSN level. Higher education and more experience lead to better professional opportunities. Of course, the better the job is, the more you get paid for it.
